My wife was at a local market, and thought of me so she picked me up a couple single bottles to try out. One of which was Tommy Knocker’s Jack Whacker Wheat Ale.

When I first saw the bottle, I assumed that this was probably one of those nasty beers that people only buy because they have funny names and labels. The label has a donkey kicking the crap out of an elf miner.
When I cracked it open in the tasting booth and poured, I was impressed with the head (especially for this type of beer). The head stuck around for several minutes then cleared out. Before I took my first sip, I made a serious attempt to gather any aroma from this beer. I could smell something, but not sure. Whatever it was had a hint of dishrag. Was my glass clean?
Anyway, the appearance of the beer was very cloudy, which I find typical with wheat beers. My first taste raised my eyebrows. I was impressed with the taste. There wasn’t too much of anything at all. Not too much hops, or malts. This is a dangerous beer because of how easy it went down. I could have easily started pounding these and I don’t find that in many beers I drink. I’m giving this beer an “B+”. If it smelled better, I’d give it an “A”.
