Maybe I was spoiled by the taste of the Shiner 98 but I was a little disappointed by the light lager flavor of the 99. I think I understand the history of this anniversary brew, and I don’t want to take away from that, but the head didn’t last and neither did the taste. It poured a nice copper color and has a pleasant aroma. A very good looking beer. If I hadn’t had the “98″ I would probably like it more. The “pro’s” would say “It had a quick finish”. I, on the other hand, enjoy a beer that doesn’t leave a heavy aftertaste. This beer would be good for a family picnic or a golf outing. One you can drink three or four of and not feel like you just ate a six course meal. My rating: “C”. I can’t wait for the 100th anniversary brew.
