Flying Dog Road Dog Porter

flying-dog-dog-road-porterAnother one from my Flying Dog variety pack. The Road Dog Porter poured a dark chocolate color with a deep ruby hue when I held it up to the light. (Yes, I held it up to the light, and Mrs. Porch made fun of me. She called me a “beer nerd”) It’s head was a light beige/nougat color, reminded me of the inside of a 3 Musketeer bar. Nice malty aroma with a velvety feel on the palate, but not too sweet and just a touch of hops. A good gateway brew for those who have never tried a Porter. But be careful, it’s fairly robust, not another watered down micro-brew. I only got two with my sampler pack but it left me wanting more.

My opinon is, Flying Dog does it again. Another hit brew that I will search out for my next steak cookout. This would also be good with a piece of chocolate cake or some brownies laced with English walnuts. mmmm……
