Iron City Lager

Iron City LagerWhile I was working a 3-11 shift, the beautiful Mrs. Porch called to let me know that my favorite beer store had Iron City on sale and wanted to know if I wanted some and how much I wanted. (Great wife). When I got home later that night, there they were, in the old beer fridge. (Again, Great wife)

As a kid, I had a beer can collection, and I had a customer on my paper route who’s son lived in the Pittsburgh area. Every time he came to town he would bring me the latest released Iron City can. Usually with the local sports teams pictures on them. The Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, I still have them too. I’ll have to get them out and show them off again.

It poured a clear yellow with a thin white head. It smelled a little sweet and grainy. I thought I even smelled a little corn. I’ve had their “Light” version and I remember the corny grain smell and taste and the premium version isn’t much different. A great cooler stuffer or session beer. This would be good for a tailgate or cookout. Not much aftertaste, but still enough to wash down that cheeseburger or brat without leaving that stale taste in your mouth that you get with some beers. Overall, not bad, not my favorite but I can see me filling my cooler with these for my next camping trip.

Great post. We have this site here in the UK which lists the best beer fridges on the market in the UK. They have also posted a recent article on how these beer fridges are great for camping. Enjoy your beer!
