Another offering by the Baron’s brewery somewhere in Australia. I got this for a reduced price at Jungle Jims in Fairfield, Ohio. At first I thought it was because it was close to being outdated or just not a good beer. The beer guy told me they were discontinuing beers from Australia because of some tax law or something that made it too expensive to import. Nice, huh? Bureaucrats at work, messing with our beers. More on that later.
I thought I’d give it a try. ESB, stands for Extra Special Bitter, and this beer lives up to it’s name. If you like bitter, hoppy beers, then this one’s for you. (If you can find it). It poured a beautiful golden amber with a frothy vanilla colored head. You could smell the hops before you could taste them with each drink. The flavor stayed with you well into the next drink, so I guess you could say it had some lenghth to it’s finish.  A very refreshing brew that doesn’t leave your tastebuds wondering if that was flavored water or a beer. You know you are drinking a “BEER”. I enjoyed this beer very much, I only wish it was still available in my area. This is one I’ll get whenever I have the opportunity. Good job Baron’s, this is one of the manliest beers I’ve tried it could very well be on my top 10 list.
