Dundee Festive Ale

This was in the winter beer section at the store and it was on sale for $2.99. I’ve had other Dundee brews in the past and was not real impressed but for 3 bucks, how bad could it be? It poured a dark amber with a light tan head that disappeared after my second drink. I tried to swirl the beer around in my mug to make it reappear, and it did but only for a few seconds. It had a slight malty aroma and tasted like watered down pumpkin. It leaves a syrup-y aftertaste on your palate which is the only real characteristic it has.

In summary, from the time I saw it until the time I tasted it, my experience with this one just went down hill, then it left a bad aftertaste. Now I know why it was on sale. Not one I’ll buy again.

This beer is marketed as a winter or “festive” beer but I say it’s yet another weak attempt by the Dundee Brewing company to take it’s place among the many craft brewers in America.
