Grupo Modelo Pacifico

Being a guest poster was a great reason to drink more beer, perhaps a golden opportunity?

I went to a poker game last week, and picked up a six pack (bottles) of Pacifico on the way. I am a Fan of the Mexican beer selection and I’m yet to find a Mexican beer I didn’t like, but then again I like a lot of beer.

Pacifico is a 4.5% abv pale lager originally brewed in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The name means Pacific. The picture on the bottle is the Deer Islands off the coast of Mazatlán surrounded by a lifesaver.

The first sip of this beer, directly from the bottle, was a little disappointing.

Because this beer is created by the same company that makes Modelo and Corona (Grupo Modelo), I was expecting a strong rich flavor. It was more the other way for this one, a light taste with a weird almost fruity taste. The beer did go down easy and did not have a bad aftertaste.

This beer could have used salt and lime for sure. This beer would be good with a dinner or nachos, certainly not a beer I can drink into the night.

Overall I rate this beer 5/10. The middle of the road for me, not really a bad beer but I don’t think I will choose this beer over the others in its category.
