From the makers of New Belgium brewery’s Fat Tire Amber Ale comes their organic wheat beer. The Mothership Wit. Considering how good the Fat Tire is, I was pretty excited about trying some of their other brews.
It poured a very cloudy dull, straw like yellow. When I first smelled it I was surprised at the way the aroma jumped out of the glass and consumed my entire sense of smell, too bad it smelled like bread dough stuffed in a dirty sock. My anticipation to taste it quickly dwindled. The first sip tasted like a lemon-lime soft drink mixed with tonic water. Too much carbonation. I thought it would get better as I drank on, but it didn’t. It had a decent finish though, no long lasting bad aftertaste. It was laden with flavor, I could taste the citrus and the coriander. This is not my type of beer, but if it was I’d probably rate it pretty high due to the amount of flavor the complex mix of ingredients creates. This beer really didn’t do it for me. Probably won’t get it again.
