Shiner Dunkelweizen

I’m not much for wheat beers. They’re ok, but not my favorite. I do, however, like dark beers. Shiner has produced a wheat beer that even I can enjoy time and time again. It has a dark color with a hint of red in it. (The “pro’s” call it mahogony) I drink most of my beer outside on the Porch and I like a head that lasts so I can scoop the bugs out of it easier and the head on this beer didn’t last long, but then again, neither did the beer! So I can live with it. I thought it had a nice smooth flavor with very little aftertaste. I like a beer that lingers a little while but this wasn’t bad. Even though it is touted as a “Winter” beer, I think it would a great cookout beer also. A beer for all seasons, if you will. I will buy it again.

Shiner Bavarian-Style Amber

Bavarian-Style Amber by ShinerBavarian-Style Amber is the 98 year anniversary beer for Shiner. (I did a little research on it before posting so I could get a little background on it.) It’s the 2007 beer, so it’s gonna be hard to find but if you can get ahold of some, it’s a must try.

Mr. Porch and I went on a camping trip this weekend to New Paris, Ohio and ended up at Baumbach’s Bar-B-Q Grill. Special thanks to Wendy Baumbach for the extra-special hospitality and the food was out of this world!. Mr. Porch and I tried a couple Shiner beers, and of those I especially enjoyed the Bavarian Style Amber.

I enjoyed everything about this beer. The taste, smell, color. It was a very appealing brew that I’m sorry I haven’t tried sooner.
