As a big fan of the American craft brewer, I am especially fond of the the Sierra Nevada brewery. Begining with a home brewing kit and some advice from his friends, Mr. Ken Grossman started brewing his beers in five gallon buckets and turned his signature brew, the Pale Ale, into the second biggest selling craft brew in America, behind only Samuel Adams Boston Lager.
The Sierra Nevada Pale Ale pours a beautiful golden tan with a nice white head. As I lifted it up to my nose for my “pre-taste sniff” I could smell the hops. Lots of them too. It smelled like a good pale ale should. It had a rich flavor of hops and a little citrus. Mostly hops. (are you catching the trend here?) Each drink seemed to dissolve on my tongue, kinda like champagne, only better. This is one to savor, small sips will light up your taste buds into a carnival of hoppy happiness. DO NOT CHUG THIS BEER! Sip it, enjoy it, make it last. The folks at Sierra Nevada have yet to disappoint me with their brews and I can see why their pale ale is their flagship brew. All beers should be this good.
I drank this one while watching a Miami hockey game against Northern Michigan and eating some BBQ wings. It would have been better with a steak or grilled pork chops though. (By the way, Miami won 2-1 in overtime. Go Redhawks!)
