This is the second of three beers I recieved as a Christmas gift from my Mom. Cool label. It’s a black lab, but at first glance it looks like a seal. It pours a deep cola color, almost black. You can see a little redness if you hold it up to the light. It had a thin beige or off white head with almost no aroma. If you tried really hard, you could smell just a hint of stale malt somewhere in there. The taste was like watered down malts and very little hops. This one is brewed with 5 different malts and three different hops, but they must cancel each other out because the flavor was boring and uneventful. It did have a positive asset though, it left no aftertaste. When a beer is this boring, you want it to have no aftertaste.
Even with a 6.3% ABV I believe I would stop drinking it before the alcohol caught up with me. It was as if I was drinking a “Bud LIght Dark” or a mug of black ice water. Not a good beer and not one I’d buy again. Sorry Mom, but you know yourself, not all beers are as good as they look.
P-O-R-C-H Rating: P+
(I gave it a + because of the color, it is an attractive beer with a pretty cool label)
