I ordered a sampler that consisted of four different cigars from Victor Sinclair. When I got them, I packed them in my humidor for about a week to let them settle down from the shock of shipping. When that week was up, the first one I picked was the Connecticut Yankee. It was a torpedo style and looked pretty good, very few veins, no hard spots, a good cut etc. It even smelled good.
Then I lit it. It had a harsh grassy taste to it that I really didn’t care for and I had to light it a couple of times. About 1/4 of the way down, it started to burn very unevenly, but once I puffed through that part of the cigar it settled down and burned ok. Still had that harsh grassy taste and it left my palate feeling like I just ate a box cereal without the milk.
I’ve had Victor Sinclair cigars before and I don’t remember them being this bad. Oh well, not every cigar is going to be perfect. After all, I’ve got three more styles to try, stay tuned.
