LaCaya Vintage

A few weeks ago, I bought a box of LaCaya Limited Reserve Churchill’s and with it came a 5 pack sampler of other LaCaya cigar blends. Among them was the Vintage. A very nice looking cigar with a chocolate colored wrapper.

lacaya-vintage-1There were no hard spots and there was nothing notable about the smell. My lighter was out of butane so I had to light it with a match. (or should I say three matches. I still haven’t perfected lighting cigars with a match. Maybe someday.) The light was a little uneven but once the short side caught up with  the other, it burned pretty evenly the rest of the way down. It had a black ring around it at the base of the lit part, I have been told that this is the oils burning out. It had a decent draw and a good smooth aroma with a bit of lacaya-vintage-2a peppery sting that got stronger as I smoked it. It lasted about an hour so it would be a good cigar for those afternoons when you have nothing planned. (Like those days happen)

On a scale of 1-5, I would rate it a 3.5 – 4. A pretty decent cigar, but nothing really stands out about it. Looks good, smells good, burns good, draws good etc. A good consistent smoke that I will, and already have, bought again. And I have plenty of afternoons with nothing planned, now I just have to find one when Mrs. Porch has nothing planned for me.
