Romeo Y Julietta – Sevens

Several weeks ago, my buddy Tim D came over and we had a session in the garage, as it was too cold for the tasting booth. We enjoyed the cigars over a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and and was kind enough to leave me two sticks of Romeo Y Julietta for future use. Last night, Mr. Porch came over for the first tasting booth session of 2009.

The pre-light inspection revealed that craftsmen who put these cigars together went the extra mile to gain eye appeal. The cedar wrap had two bands on it, as well as the band on the cigar. The Connecticut wrapper appeared in every way to be flawless. Truly, a beautiful cigar.

I was unable to find any hard spots, and after a clean cut we filled our pints with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and headed to the tasting booth. We lit up at 9:49 and began to enjoy this piece of art.

The cigar produced plenty of smoke, which we both found desirable. The flavor and experience were good until about a quarter of the way in, as I was in conversation and perhaps laughed I made a move that would spoil the night – I inhaled. I didn’t do it on purpose, it just happens sometimes.

A little bit later, my wrapper began to self destruct. By the end of the session I was about sick due to the smoke inhalation but that was of no fault of the cigar. I’m not going to score this cigar until I give it another shot on another occasion. Mr. Porch, I believe, found the cigar to be quite enjoyable.

We dumped after about two hours of burn time. Tim thanks again for the cigars, we really appreciated it!
